Native Instruments Maschine 1.8 Released

The most significant update to Native Instruments’ groove box baby  - Maschine 1.8 – for some time has just been released. Grab it now!

The impending update to the new Maschine hardware wouldn’t be much without a new software update, but existing Maschine owners amongst you won’t be left out in the cold with Maschine 1.8. The key features added are as follows:

  • Full version of Massive included
  • Time stretch and pitch shift
  • New effects: Transient Master, tube and tape saturation
  • Multicolour compatibility

Native Instruments sells Massive for €179 and Transient Master for €99, so this is like Christmas come early for Maschine users. Massive will step up to the plate in lieu of an integrated synth, and Transient Master is excellent at giving your sampled sounds exactly the punch you want. Between them, they’re a pretty significant update to Maschine and its all in the box workflow, helped further by the (long conspicuous by their absence) pitch shift and time stretch functions for audio.

The update will show up in your Service Centre if you already have Maschine installed, so get involved or go check out Native Instruments’ website for more details! We’ll have Maschine v2 in for review very soon to see how the new hardware and its colour feedback improve the workflow, and the new Akai MPC gear is just around the corner too so we’ll be able to give you the lowdown on just where your pocket money should go no matter how you like to work!

Cool stuff. I updated about an hour ago. There are some nice little improvements in there also, like a playhead (position marker) in the sample slice and edit sub-window, saving samples with kits, etc. So far so good.

I think we’ll save the full review for the Maschine 2 hardware, but I’ll be loading up 1.8 onto the Maschine in the studio tonight!
