One of the most anticipated DJ events of the year is increasingly branching out into music production, and we’ll be there to help!
BPM, the trade show cum exhibition that has exploded over the past few years from humble Donnington Park roots into packed out Birmingham NEC (that’s National Exhibition Centre, for you non-UKers) halls, is just around the corner. October the 6th-8th, to be precise. Our good friends at Novation (we’re good friends with everybody, don’t worry) have invited Oh Drat to present a couple of seminars on the weekend – and they’re completely free!
Seminars at BPM
I’ll be giving you the low down on the following:
Remixing Made Easy
This seminar will show you how easy it is to remix and edit tracks on the fly. Learn to emphasise your favourite parts or to rebuild a track completely with your own special ingredients. Fine tune the most intricate details in the studio or set up a live remixing surface, the choice will be yours!
Pro Sound From Your Bedroom
In your home studio you’re the composer, performer, producer and engineer all in one. The creative spark that enables you to get your unique ideas out of your head is the key to making great music – and the finished product will be that much sweeter if you know how to massage the best out of your mix. This seminar will show you the concepts behind EQ, compression and more to give your masterpiece that professional edge.
We’ll be in good company too, as Chris Calcutt (Novation’s Product Specialist) and DJ B-Side will be presenting such topics as taking control of your DAW, the ‘ultimate’ bassline, controllerism and more!
Places are limited, but there are three chances to see each seminar; I’ll be behind the keyboard on Saturday, Sunday and Monday so that as many people can get involved as possible but you do need to sign up so head on over to the Novation BPM 2012 website now to do it (and be in with a chance of winning some swanky gear courtesy of Stanton!).
