Pharoahe Monch – Clap (One Day)

Pharoahe Monch’s forthcoming album W.A.R. (We Are Renegades) is less than two weeks from its 22nd of March release date, and lead single Clap (One Day) has just received the video treatment. More than just a run of the mill music video, though, Clap is a 10 minute short film, starring The Wire’s Gbenga Akinnagbe as well as Kim Howard and Josiah Small and directed by Terence Nance.

The power of words, communication and misdirection are reflected

Inspiration is a word right at the heart of Oh Drat, and the emotions that this film evokes are palpable as we’re invited to witness events unfolding around a disastrously fated New York police raid. The power of words, communication and misdirection are reflected both in the film’s plot device and the visual reinforcement of the metaphor behind the word clap, as Pharoahe weaves his assertive message around an M Phazes production and original score by Lion’s Share Music Group.
