This month’s Oh Drat Podcast features a broad selection of everything from hip hop to acoustic soul, four on the floor electronica to blues. As always, you can subscribe in iTunes via the link below, and this month I’m experimenting with hosting on Mixcloud rather than Soundcloud – let me know if you think the service is better this way…
The Odd Future Collective has been a maelstrom of creation over the past 18 months, with an astounding work rate of in house production, video, artwork, and of course rap. Tyler the Creator is the figurehead of the Wolf Gang, and his first album Bastard from last year was one of the most original pieces of work I have heard in years, with spacy, dreamlike production and eloquent yet often nightmarish subject matter. His follow up LP Goblin is due out soon – soon enough for the lead single to have been released today.

Yonkers is driven by a ferocious drum loop with an off centre snare, the production more stripped back than Bastard but with just as much depth, as Tyler streams his irreverent narrative with an irreproachable flow. At the same time, the video is sinister, minimal, and with just enough special effects to allow a suspension of disbelief, a little unnerving.
Goblin is out soon, and you can get over to the Odd Future website which still links to the OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All) blog which is regularly updated with free music and video from the world of Odd Future.
