Scratch heavy albums are thin on the ground – and they tend to fall into two camps; either bland and gimmicky, conspicuously ‘wikka wikka’ soundtracks, or deep, textured works of art where the finished result intrinsically reflects the production process. Thankfully, Hypermetabola doesn’t so much fall in to the latter camp as seep up through the ground sheets and permeate everything it touches.

A dark, often uneasy, listening experience, this album by Bedlam Mind, the pairing of Minimal-Orchestra (Inferno.79) and Chinch 33 is delirium in audio form. Low pitched vocals, neck breaking drums, crooked samples and crusty paranoia inspiring audio cuts submerged me deep into the sinister world Bedlam Mind and managed to make me thankful for it.
